HOLMFIRTH BELLS

The

Bellringers' Blessing

May you look to each other.

May you always chime in harmony,

and may all your clashes be minor.

May you ring evenly: not crowding

each other, nor too far apart. May you

always have a strong band around you.

May you help each other to follow your path,

even through life's most complicated methods.

May you learn when it is your turn to lead and to follow,

when to make places, when to lie behind and when to dodge.

May you ring a full and proper peal. May you always stand together.

That's all!

ABOUT US

ABOUT US

RINGING

Holmfirth has a beautiful set of 8 bells but hasn't had a regular band since 1993 and the bells were last rung in 2019.  A group of newish ringers are currently working hard to get these bells ringing again with essential bell maintenance, rope mending and lots and lots of cleaning.  We shall, in time, and when funds allow, do some decorating in the ringing room too. We are currently ringing every Friday morning at 11am and all competent ringers are welcome to join us.

WEDDINGS

Church bells have been incorporated into wedding ceremonies as a symbol of abundance and prosperity and originate from Celtic and Irish traditions. The ringing of bells was often believed to ward off evil spirits so they didn't cause havoc on the big day!

Most modern day couples book the bells simply because they sound so beautiful.  If you'd like to have the bells rung for your wedding, please choose this option when booking your wedding.

VISITING BANDS

It's always good to get out and about and visit new towers to expand your bell ringing skills. You may be wanting to book our bells for general ringing as part of an outing, for a quick tower grab, for a specific 8 bell practise session with your regular band, or for another special occasion.

Visiting bands are now welcome to book the Holmfirth Bells. Please do this by contacting our Secretary. via our email address.
